Author Wins Booksellers' Best Award
July 2004: Author Shirley Jump's first novel, The Virgin's Proposal, has won the prestigious Booksellers' Best Award for Best Traditional Romance of 2003. This contest, sponsored by Greater Detroit Romance Writers of America, and judged by nearly 1000 booksellers across the country, is an annual event that chooses the best books in ten different romance categories.
Ms. Jump was a double finalist this year with both her first and second novels. Her second novel, The Bachelor's Dare, placed third in the same category. Other winners this year included Robin Lee Hatcher, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Leanne Banks, Jane Graves and Catherine Mann.
Ms. Jump's novels have garnered Top Pick reviews from Romantic Times Book Club magazine and have been published in seven different countries. Her first single title novel, The Bride Wore Chocolate, will be released by Kensington Books in September. The Bride Wore Chocolate is part of a three-book romantic comedy series featuring recipes written by the characters.
