Maria Pagliano had a plan. She had to lose twenty-five pounds in eight weeks for her class reunion. It wouldn't be too hard; she would just have to stop eating everything that she liked. Then Maria would then look better than Mary Louise Zipparetto who went from a size twenty to a size two with the help of Chubby Chums. Besides the Mary Louise incentive, there was Antonio, an old flame from high school. If Mary Louise could do it, so could Maria, if she could just stay away from food. Nevertheless when Maria got to the Chubby Chums meeting she wasn't sure she could do it. Maria thought that some of the Chubby Chums people had lost their mind. She had to get out.

This had been one of the worst nights in Dante Del Rosso's life. He had worked so hard for six years to get George Whitman from The Boston Globe to come into his restaurant, La Vita Deliziosa, and what happens? Dante's sous chef sets the man on fire. Dante could see that Whitman's review was going to make him up in flames, and with it would go Dante's dream of making Deliziosa a success. As Dante was stewing in his own remorse he looks up and saw a vision before him. She seemed to be looking for a cab. Dante told himself that she would not find any cabs there tonight because of the fire. Dante asked the woman in for a bite to eat; he didn't want her to leave before he got to know her better. The woman seemed hesitant, until Dante introduced himself, and Maria did the same. Dante talked Maria into coming in for a low cal snack. Dante and Maria were sitting down and he was getting to know her, when George Whitman walked back in with his attorney, ready to sue. Maria calmed everyone down and persuaded, Whitman to have a meal, this time with out the fire. With her good deed done, Maria leaves. Dante was gorgeous but he defiantly wasn't someone she could get involved with.

Dante had to find Maria again. She had talked Whitman into staying and Whitman had given him a great review. So he did owe her, just because she was gorgeous, and had the perfect shape was just the whip cream on the Sicilian Ricotta Cake.

The Devil Served Tortellini is a fun romp in how what you think you don't want is exactly what you need. Maria has been burned once and she doesn't want it to happen again. What happens is Maria is so busy running way from Dante because she thinks he will be the traditional Italian male that she doesn't stop to really look at him. Dante on the other hand knows a good thing when he sees it and will not let it go for nothing. I really enjoyed this story. It kept my attention, and gave me some great recipes. So get some pasta and a copy of this story and sit back and enjoy The Devil Served Tortellini.
